Marcellus Shale Gas Drilling and Water (Q&A)
The Sierra Club is trying to get as much support as is possible for the WV Legislature to come up with a meaningful bill for the special session that is set to deal with redistricting in August. However, the deadline is even sooner. Senator Kessler has set up a committee to come up with a bill. It is believed that they will be working on this from now until the meeting on finance on July 11th in Charleston.
Call or email the people on the attached list and papers. We really need to act now.
I met a woman from Hampshire that is near a well and she is scared about what will happen when they frack it or drill more wells. Much of the area is now leased and no one has much recourse if they object since the mineral rights are not owned.
Please please take the time to email the people listed. A phone call too if you can. Even better - if anyone can personally contact a person that is great.
A letter to the editor of the Morgan Messenger is also a great tool. You must send it to them by US Mail. You can get the info online for address etc.
Even if you do not live in WV, if you own property you are a taxpayer. It impacts not only WV but much of the country. Our river is really in danger.
Again, please act on this asap.
Please pass this information on to anyone you believe might join in this cause.
